Duffy the Dragon at Camp Goodtimes - August 15, 2010

I have been working on a little illustration project in support of the Canadian Cancer Society with a fabulous Author, Kate Noble. Now that the book is finished and available to the public, I thought I would share a few pics of the process!

The book is available through all Scotia Bank locations on the island, Hemp & Co., and Country Grocer. Contributions support the internationally acclaimed and accredited summer recreation program, Camp Goodtimes. The camp provides a unique summer experience for children and teens with cancer.

Discovery Coffee House - Solo Show - April 8, 2010

Just a quick update:

My solo show "Tidepools" is up at Discovery Coffee House (1964 Oak Bay Avenue) so everyone should come have a mocha (the best in town!) and check it out!

It will be up for the next couple of months (April/ May 2010) and work is for sale at reasonable prices. I believe in making affordable art that is accessable to everyone.

Special thanks to Kathleen at Discovery Coffee for helping put this little shin-dig on!

Owls In The Family.... - February 18, 2010

Well, I had an urge to paint an owl. So I painted one. Then another one. Then another one. And so on.....now we have several owls hanging around the house. I fear I am entering a new series, once again. However, change is always good.

Fantasy Island - February 8, 2010

Now that everyone has had time to recover from the holiday festivities, I hope calendars are a little less crowded and people will find time to check out this upcoming show featuring my work and the works of a few other talented folk:

FANTASY ISLAND
February 19 - March 15, 2010

"Victoria, with its legislature buildings lit up like the castle from the opening sequence of the Wonderful World of Disney, provides a perfect backdrop for ideas around fantasy and the unreal. This group exhibition will showcase the work of Victoria-based artists whose work delves into the fantastical and the romantic while alluding to a darker subterfuge."

Opening reception, Friday, February 19 @ 7:30 pm
Curator/artist talk, Friday, February 19 @ 8 pm

Legacy Art Gallery Event Review - November 29, 2009

My afternoon spent as the Artist in Residence at the Legacy Gallery went really well, considering the weather outside was nasty (rain, rain and more rain). Thank you to all who came out to support me. I hope to do the event again in the spring.

A New Series - September 25, 2009

With the weather changing, screenprinting in the back (yard) has become a bit difficult. I have changed direction and begun a new collection of work which I have been referring to as my Beachcomber series. I am very excited about how these new pieces are turning out and look forward to a continuing period of growth and discovery.

Welcome to SelinaJorgensen.com! - July 13, 2009

Finally, I am online! I plan to use this area for updates on upcoming shows of mine and of other artists I love and support. Check in regularly for additional blurbs, links, and thoughts about the art world and my current inspirations. Currently, Polychrome Fine Arts has a couple of my pieces and everyone should go check them out - a great new space for alternative and unique artwork. The University of Victoria Legacy Gallery has re-vamped their gift shop to reflect current art being made in the Victoria area. Some of my smaller pieces have found a temporary home there. Again, please stop by their space as it really is a wonderful achievement for the heart of downtown Victoria. Later, Kids!
